Tint

Privacy policy

Short version: Tint collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics and no server that receives your data.

What Tint stores

Your settings, the themes you make, pictures or videos you choose as a background, and your home page layout. They are kept in your own browser using Chrome's extension storage. If you are signed in to Chrome with sync turned on, Chrome copies your settings and small themes to your other computers. The developer never sees any of it.

What Tint reads

Tint only runs on www.youtube.com. It changes how the page looks and hides parts you choose to hide. To fill the widgets on the custom home page (for example your subscriptions or Watch later), it loads the same youtube.com pages you could open yourself, inside your own YouTube tab. That information is shown to you and never sent anywhere else.

What Tint downloads

• A small data file of YouTube page names (map.json) from this website, about every six hours, so Tint can be fixed quickly when YouTube changes. It contains no code and no request carries anything about you.
• The community theme list from this website, only when you open the Community tab.
• Google Fonts, only if you turn that option on yourself.

What Tint never does

• No tracking, analytics, ads or cookies of its own.
• No selling or sharing of data, because none is collected.
• No access to any website other than youtube.com.
• No code downloaded from the internet.
